Being in the middle of a quarter life crisis is very hard. Luckily there are a lot of very helpful reads that will help you get through this difficult part of your twenties. If you are looking for a quarter life crisis book, below you can find three that I’ve found really helpful. Of course there are many more books that can have an impact and are not related to the quarter life crisis however, the books listed below are specifically focused on this phase of your life.
Book 1: Quarterlife crisis: the unique challenges of life in your twenties
The first book I want to recommend is a book from Alexandra Robbins called ‘Quarterlife crisis: the unique challenges of life in your twenties’. Because the quarter life crisis is a term that started around the 00’s there is relatively recent literature about this topic. This book written by Alexandra Robbins is the first book about the quarter life crisis.
It is a very nice read and chances are you will find yourself in one of the 100 personal stories that are included. The stories describe struggles about personal identities, how to cope with (the fair of) failure, how to face choices instead of avoiding them and how to balance all the demanding aspects of personal and professional life.
This book gives all the insights you need on the transition from childhood to adulthood and from high school to college to the working life. But one of the main takeaways for me is, you are not alone. There are many more people in their twenties that struggle with the same things as you are!

Book 2: The Defining Decade: Why Your Twenties Matter and How to Make the Most of Them Now
Like the title says, this book goes in depth of why your twenties matter. If you have a mindset where you keep telling yourself that things will come or you say things like ‘next year will be my year’ then this book is a must read for you!
The book is written by Dr Meg Jay who has more than ten years of work experience with hundreds of twentysomething clients and students. In this provocative and sometimes poignant read she shows us why our twenties matter based on behind-closed-doors stories from twentysomethings themselves.
Dr Meg Jay is also known for her TED talk about why 30 is not the new 20. The talk has over 3.5 million views! Check it out here. More interested in reading the book? You can find the amazon page via this link.
Book 3: The quarter-life breakthrough by Adam Smiley Poswolsky
The last book I want to recommend is a book written by Adam Smiley Poswolsky. In contrast to the other books that are stated before, this quarter life crisis book focuses more on your career path and on happiness in your job.
How do you actually find meaning in the workplace? How do you find work that makes your heart sing, creates impact, and pays your rent? These are all questions that will be answered in this book. Next to this, the book is full of practical exercises and advice which is essential for anyone in their twenties!
